Ahmed has always closely followed technology trends, and developments, and is at the forefront of advancements within the ICT & Telecoms sector. His passion for business has lent itself to a successful business career in which he has been involved in all aspects of his ventures, from R&D to Marketing, and everything in between.
 
Having been self-employed throughout his working career, Ahmed is suited to business operations and initiatives that require entrepreneural flare and creativity. Central to his philosophy is the fact that in technology and innovation driven companies, market opportunities are only as good as the people who can identify them and drive the value creation and value delivery process.
 
In 1996, Ahmed co-founded the successful Funhouse Amusements, later becoming an industry leader in supplying coin-operated machinery to the private sector. The company diversified into the importing of components & electronics specific to the coin-operated sector. Subsequent to the sale of Funhouse Amusements in 1999, Ahmed has consulted to the coin-operated industry and pioneered many industry standards.
 
Ahmed thereafter founded a retail chain of Cellular and PC stores in Cape Town where he gained exposure in the mobile, telecom and IT industries. He went on to found, and is currently the Managing Director of Cellsmart Technologies, a wireless application service provider (WASP) that specialises in mobile marketing, media and advertising.
 
Ahmed is also the Strategic Business Development Director, and shareholder of Autotracker, a vehicle and asset tracking company. He has been the founding Chairman of the Vodacom WASP Council (2008-2009), Co-Chair of the Global Mobile Marketing Associations SA Council (www.mmaglobal.com), Chairman of the Wireless Application Service Provider Association’s (WASPA) Mobile Advertising and Marketing committee ADCOM (www.waspa.org.za), and founding member of Mobile Monday South Africa.
